THE PRODIGY
William Kaufman
2005, USA, Narrative, 118 minutes
“Exciting and well-paced, The Prodigy is a crime movie that plays like a horror movie. An offbeat and very welcome thriller.
Kaufman’s debut feature is a little come-out-of-nowhere masterpiece.” 4 ½ stars - Film Threat |

“Adheres to the basic templates forged by Reservoir Dogs and Se7en, but style and enthusiasm lift it past simple imitation, with a cracking, bloody
good B-flick the result. Performances are generally solid and the technical aspects are accomplished.” - Variety
The Prodigy is the blood-soaked tale of small-time criminal enforcer Truman Fisher and his vicious conflict with Claude Rains; a sadistic
assassin. The anonymous killer’s exploits are legendary among Truman’s underworld colleagues. Striking with murderous effectiveness and leaving behind few
clues, Rains uses his own near-mythical reputation to cloud his presence and even his own existence. Truman must find his lethal enemy before everyone he
knows falls prey to outrageous ultraviolence at the hands of a brilliant madman.
The jaw-dropping violence and nonstop mayhem will leave you breathless, and will probably rekindle your faith in horrific indie crime flicks.
